International Orders, Customs and Import Requirements

EU & Booze Cellar makes sure every international order is supplied with the legally required certified commercial invoice containing the product name, brand, alcohol category, quantity, value and other information required for Portuguese export and accounting declarations.

For deliveries within the European Union customs territory, customers do not pay customs import duties. VAT is charged at the applicable destination-country rate through the EU One Stop Shop (OSS), where applicable. Our licensed accountant handles all required alcohol reporting separately using our certified invoices.

For deliveries outside the destination’s domestic customs area, the customer is the importer of record. The customer is responsible for:

confirming that the alcoholic products may legally be imported into their destination, if needed;

obtaining any personal or commercial import permit, licence or prior approval, if needed;

appointing and paying a customs-clearing agent when required and if needed;

paying local customs duties, alcohol excise, import VAT, clearance charges and storage fees; and

providing identification or other documents requested by the courier or customs authority, if needed.

We complete the correct certified invoice required from us in Portugal, but we cannot complete or manage the customer’s local import procedures.

If a shipment is delayed, held or refused because the customer has not completed the destination country’s import requirements, the customer must work directly with the courier, clearing agent or customs authority. Any return, storage or disposal costs legally chargeable to the customer will be the customer’s responsibility.

Nothing in this section limits any mandatory consumer rights that apply under Portuguese or European Union law.

Returns Policy

EU customers may return unopened and untampered products within 14 days of delivery under the right of withdrawal. This change-of-mind return policy applies to EU customers only. The customer is responsible for arranging and paying the return shipping costs. Return and the shipping costs are not refunded. EU & Booze Cellar does not provide or pay for return labels. All returned items undergo a health and quality inspection to confirm that they remain sealed and in acceptable condition before any refund is approved. Opened, consumed, refilled or tampered products are not eligible for a change-of-mind refund. This does not affect the customer’s legal rights if a product is faulty, damaged or incorrect.
